Recommitment to Kwitcherbitchin’

I have a very old, ingrained habit of complaining. I grew up in a family of complainers. My mother was a martyr’s martyr. I heard “Kwitcherbitchin’!” a lot growing up. Complaining is a lot like smoking cigarettes; it’s great when you’re doing it, and a disgusting habit once you’ve quit. It’s also a really easy habit to pick up again, especially when I’m under stress. I recently came face to face with myself back in my complaining habit. Nobody else had to point it out. I just came to an …

Playing it Safe

I’m writing about this because I know that if something shows up three times, it is for me. This is one of those things that I absolutely do NOT want to invite into my life. Thus, here goes. First, I got a call from a friend. She met a guy and fell for him instantly. The first thing she said to me, “It’s been more than a decade since Jerry died. I was asked an interesting question last night. After I made the statement that I used to be very anti-homosexual, a friend told me that she had a hard time believing I had ever held those beliefs. She was unable to find a trace of it in me, for which I expressed silent gratitude. “How does that just disappear in a person?” she asked.

Clear and Supported

I am human. I get emotional, irrational, irritable, make mistakes, and get overwhelmed, just like everyone else. “BUT, YOU’RE A LIFE COACH!” is a common response to my less-than-stellar moments. Yes, I am a Life Coach, and a superb one at that. Being a Life Coach does not exempt me from the day-to-day hassles of life. As my Sweetheart pointed out, it does hold me to a higher standard of resolving them.

When Momentum Scares Me

A friend asked me this question yesterday: “Have you ever been absolutely certain of an action to take (feeling inspired to take it, etc) and once the initial step is taken have a sudden feeling of nervousness?” My response was, “Did you see my last Facebook post?” We had a good laugh because we were both facing the same thing. It took me until today to know that it’s not just the two of us; there are many who are questioning themselves. If you’re one of them, I hope you’ll …
