What Are You Waiting For?

I posted something on Facebook last week about lack of money and its relationship to waiting. This visual speaks to a deeper aspect of it for me. I have caught myself waiting “until I’m ready.” It was always one more certification, or degree, or level of experience, or piece of knowledge. As a Life Coach, I often see others doing the same. Something broke in my waiting game when I began watching successful people. They wait, but not for the same things. They wait for their instincts to say “GO!” then …

Why 50 is Absolutely the Best Age of My Life (so far)

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine this evening. She was expressing her sympathy over an unresolved situation in my life. As I assured her that it was actually fine, I realized the full possibility that this situation existed solely so I could have this realization. 50, as the cliche says, is FABULOUS!!! There is no biological clock in my life. The fact that it was surgically silenced five years ago is irrelevant. I have no emotional yearning to have children in my life. Apparently, 50 is that …

Awareness and Shift in Action

Life isn’t about what happens to us, it’s about how we respond to the happenings. The A/C company just came and took the wall unit that cools the main area (living room, dining room, kitchen) of the house I’m currently living in. They had promised a replacement “rental” unit for the time it would take to repair this unit. Turns out, there are none available. They don’t have anything that will fit into that space. They also said they won’t know what they need to repair it until they get …

Leaning in to let it go

Metamorphosis… What a GRAND word! So FULL of POSSIBILITY!!! The way one thing MAGICALLY becomes another! Such PROMISE! Such HOPE! Such ROMANCE! Such… Such a thing as Metamorphosis requires that thing called CHANGE. And Change, well, that’s a fearsome thing. And change, it doesn’t come free. Change requires a Decision. And Decision requires Courage, and Action, and… And it all looks like it could destroy everything that I hold dear, and my whole self along with it. And, in a way, it does. Change/Metamorphosis destroys what ‘was’ to allow what’s …

Energy Vampires – Who is Draining You?

I’ve heard talk of energy vampires for several years now. Most of that talk focuses on how draining they are and, of course, how to get them out of your life. During a recent seminar, I had a huge ah-ha moment. Of course, the topic was energy vampires. “Who do you need to fire?” the presenter asked. “Myself,” said my internal voice. WHAT??? The presenter went on with her talk about getting rid of people, while I went on to my own internal seminar. I’m sharing what I got out …

When I am in Sadness

I would love a little extra LOVE today. There are shifts going on in my life and I’m feeling deep sadness. Letting go only happens to make room for something better. My heart knows this, but it is also healthy to feel the grieving part. I was never allowed to grieve as a child. Even when my father died, it was only acceptable to cry on the day of his funeral. I am exploring grieving. The bittersweet, the hope, the random tears, the good memories, the anger, it’s all here in …

What is Abundance?

I thought I knew what abundance was. Five years after my divorce, I had rebuilt my life from a two-room rented office and a small rental house to owning my office, the house next door, and a five acre retirement property. I had everything in place to purchase a new rental property each year, and be able to retire on residual income within ten years. I thought that I was experiencing incredible abundance. The Universe obviously had different ideas on the topic for me to experience.

Beliefs and Marriage Equality

I was asked an interesting question last night. After I made the statement that I used to be very anti-homosexual, a friend told me that she had a hard time believing I had ever held those beliefs. She was unable to find a trace of it in me, for which I expressed silent gratitude. “How does that just disappear in a person?” she asked.
