Am I Really Type-A?

I’m spending a quite a bit of time laughing at myself lately. It’s a good hobby, raising the endorphins and such. I’m laughing because I keep catching myself in the act of raising my own level of awareness. In case you didn’t know, the primary task of a Life Coach is raising the level of awareness. I’m just going to take a pause right here and acknowledge myself for doing a really great job with myself! Today’s laughter is around my new awareness of what my Type-A behavior might really …

Nicer to Me

“I can rest when I’m dead!” My mother’s words still ring in my head, a martyr’s call to arms from earliest childhood. Long after she stopped working and started spending every day in her recliner, she was still the most tired and unhappy woman I’ve ever known. No matter how much I think I know about the conditioning and beliefs that were neither healthy nor true, I still find them cropping up in my life. More accurately, I am deeply amazed when they are suddenly resolved. Just as a fish …

Not New Years Day

I got up this morning, made The Sweetheart’s coffee and lunch, and sent him out the door, just like every other morning. I didn’t even glance at the whiteboard I had meticulously crosshatched with goals and days of the week. Somewhere around 1:15 this afternoon, I was standing in the kitchen, juicing carrots, ginger, and turmeric as my lunch of beans and rice heated on the stove. I was a little in awe of myself. I had already written more words today than I have all week, posted on my …

Get This Be That

Once upon a time in a land far away, 25 years ago on the other side of Florida, I did something outrageously stupid. In the midst of an emotionally charged argument, a man asked me what I wanted. My exact reply: “I want to get married and be happy! The moment is burned into my brain. We were between his car and the front door of my house. I was in pain because our relationship was falling apart and my lifelong dream of getting married and being happy was slipping …

Why 50 is Absolutely the Best Age of My Life (so far)

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine this evening. She was expressing her sympathy over an unresolved situation in my life. As I assured her that it was actually fine, I realized the full possibility that this situation existed solely so I could have this realization. 50, as the cliche says, is FABULOUS!!! There is no biological clock in my life. The fact that it was surgically silenced five years ago is irrelevant. I have no emotional yearning to have children in my life. Apparently, 50 is that …

Awareness and Shift in Action

Life isn’t about what happens to us, it’s about how we respond to the happenings. The A/C company just came and took the wall unit that cools the main area (living room, dining room, kitchen) of the house I’m currently living in. They had promised a replacement “rental” unit for the time it would take to repair this unit. Turns out, there are none available. They don’t have anything that will fit into that space. They also said they won’t know what they need to repair it until they get …

Weary Edgewalker

After this week’s post on Finding my Inner Edgewalker, I had a session with a coaching client, and realized there is a lot more that needs to be said. Not just about the different kinds of Edgewalkers (Innate vs Situational, Accepting vs Rebelling, Aware vs Unaware, etc.), what Edgewalkers are (I’ll get to it, or check out Judi Neal and the Edgewalkers org,) there also is a lot to be said about what it’s like to be an Edgewalker. Today’s story is of the Weary Edgewalker. It was actually at the point …

A Love Story Begins

I’d like to share a love story with you. It’s a real-life story, and it’s still in progress, so I can’t guarantee you’ll see a storybook ending. What I can offer is a look into the lives of two people doing everything they can to be loving, kind, generous, healthy, and whole. The Sweetheart drove south three hours to pick me up last week. He needed to go twelve hours north to look at a couple of cars, and he wanted my help with the driving. More than that, he …

What is Abundance?

I thought I knew what abundance was. Five years after my divorce, I had rebuilt my life from a two-room rented office and a small rental house to owning my office, the house next door, and a five acre retirement property. I had everything in place to purchase a new rental property each year, and be able to retire on residual income within ten years. I thought that I was experiencing incredible abundance. The Universe obviously had different ideas on the topic for me to experience.

You may feel a little sting

I know better than to discuss certain things on my blog. Religion and politics are strictly off-limits in peaceful conversation. HOWEVER, I’m making an exception because I truly believe this information needs to be shared. Given my recent surgeries, I’ve had a lot of contact with the medical community in the past few months. Of interest today is the information I received from a very reliable source (a well-educated doctor who also happens to be a Democrat) that there will be no two-tier health system under Obamacare. If you’re not …
